Heal’s of London Oak “Clissett Highback” Armchair
A five-rung high ladderback oak armchair retailed by Heal’s of London. Originally created circa 1890 by renowned chairmaker Philip Clissett in collaboration with architect James MacLaren—is known and documented as the “Clissett Highback.”
This chair appeared in the Heal’s of London catalogue in 1907 and was manufactured by William Bartlett of High Wycombe. Beautifully proportioned and of excellent quality, it embodies the movement’s dedication to craftsmanship, honesty in materials, and timeless design.
