An intricate aesthetic movement mahogany side table.
Nice bit of fretwork with Angelo Japanese influences, very reminiscent of E.W.Godwin.
The badge reads "Hall And Anderson Calcutta". Just a quick google brings up the history of this company, which is rather interesting.
William Anderson and P. N. Hall were business partners that set up the first department store in Kolkata in 1894.
It was an instant success and a one-stop-shop for the elite of the city. It was heralded as "the finest department store in India" and stocked "the very latest from the English and Continental markets"
In good used condition. As a vintage piece, there are signs of wear and small imperfections, which only add to its charm.
