French open armchair by Erton, dating from the 1950s. A good example of French mid-century design, with solid beech arms and legs and its original upholstered finish.
The upholstery has been sympathetically restored, with new fire-retardant foam and fresh webbing, while retaining the original outer fabric. The frame is solid and the chair is comfortable and ready for use.
The original Erton label is still attached to the underside, which is always nice to see. Overall, an honest, well-made chair with the clean, understated look that French furniture of this period is known for.
