We believe this chair was produced by Gavina, Italy, in the 1960s. Details such as the welded caps and exceptionally thick, high-quality leather point towards this earlier production, with a quality that we feel is superior to the later Knoll examples.
The leather has developed a lovely natural patina through use, revealing a rich depth of colour and character. The chrome frame has some areas of corrosion, mainly around the base, which we feel are in keeping with the age of the chair and don’t detract from its overall appearance.
A great early example of one of Breuer’s most recognisable designs.
